Explain
Elective home education
Parents can choose to educate their child at home. The law says parents must make sure their child gets a suitable, full-time education, at school or in another way. A child with an EHC plan can be home educated. If the parents have made suitable arrangements, the council does not have to secure the special educational provision in Section F. But the plan stays in place and must still be reviewed. If the council arranged the child's place at a special school, the council's consent is needed to take them off the school roll for home education.
