Terms of use

These terms apply when you use Plenda on this site, in an AI assistant or through the API. Plenda is run by Eshmere Ltd (company number 17239365). By using it, you agree to these terms.

1. What Plenda does

Plenda gives general information about EHC needs assessments and EHC plans under the law of England. It works out time limits from dates you give, checks wording against published rules, and explains terms. It is free to use.

2. Not legal advice

Plenda is information, not legal advice. It does not know everything about your situation. Before you make an important decision, such as whether to appeal, get advice about your own case. Free, impartial advice is available from your local SENDIASS and from IPSEA.

3. Impartial

Plenda does not act for anyone. It does not take sides, recommend a course of action or predict what a local authority, a tribunal or a court will decide.

4. Check the dates

Results depend on the dates and text you give. Check each date against your letters. The law can change: each result says which rules version it used and the date the law was checked.

5. Fair use

Please do not misuse the service, try to break its security, or send so many requests that it slows down for others. Do not send other people's personal details unless you are allowed to share them.

6. Our responsibility

We work hard to keep the rules accurate, and each rule shows its source so it can be checked. Where a point is still open, the source is marked "to verify". We cannot promise that every result is right for every case. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for loss caused by relying on a result without checking it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

7. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed.

8. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

9. Sources and copyright

Plenda's summaries and explanations of the law are in its own words. Where it quotes legislation, the text comes from legislation.gov.uk. Where it quotes the SEND Code of Practice, the text comes from GOV.UK. The legislation and the SEND Code of Practice are Crown copyright.
