Explain
Educational record
A parent of a pupil at a council-maintained school (other than a nursery school) or a non-maintained special school has a separate right to see their child's educational record. The school must let them see it free of charge, and give them a copy, each within 15 school days of a written request. A charge for a copy cannot be more than the cost of supplying it. Anything the pupil could not get under data protection law is held back. This right does not apply at academies or other independent schools, where a subject access request can be used instead.
