Explain
Preparing for adulthood
From Year 9 onwards, an EHC plan must include help to get the child or young person ready for adult life and living as independently as they can. The assessment must seek advice on this, and every review from Year 9 must consider it. The Code of Practice describes four areas: work or higher education, independent living, friends and community life, and being as healthy as possible in adult life.
