Explain
Social care in an EHC plan (Sections D, H1 and H2)
Social care in an EHC plan is support from the council's social care services. Section D sets out the needs. Section H1 sets out care the council must provide for a disabled child under section 2 of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970. Examples are help at home or adaptations. Section H2 sets out any other social care needed, including adult care from age 18. These sections cannot be appealed on their own, but the tribunal can make recommendations about them.
Complaints about children's social care go through the council's social care complaints process, and then to the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman.
