Explain
The sections of an EHC plan (A to K)
The Regulations say what an EHC plan must set out in Sections A to I, each one separately identified, with the advice attached as Section K. They also require Section J where a direct payment will pay for special educational provision. The Code of Practice says every plan includes each section, labelled with its letter. A: views and hopes. B: special educational needs. C: health needs. D: social care needs. E: outcomes. F: special educational provision. G: health provision. H1 and H2: social care provision. I: the school or college. J: the personal budget. K: the advice.
Councils can use their own layout and order, and can use tables, as long as each section is clearly labelled with its letter. The Code of Practice also says plans should be clear. They should describe positively what the child or young person can do and has achieved, and look ahead to important changes in their life, including the move to adult life.
